Stand eight boards left of the last dot (38) and shoot over the middle arrow, break your wrist helps too.

I've found that the best way is to lean over and pick it up by the head, but the rules seem to frown on that, so I definately prefer to shoot across the alley at it.

Being a right hander, I start with my feet all the way over to the left side of the lane and try to roll the ball about two boards to the right of the third arrow (starting from the right hand side). Shooting across the lane gives you a greater margin of error than trying to shoot straight down the lane.

Also, and this is important for me because I throw a reactive resin ball, I switch to a urethane ball that does not want to hook to pick up these spares.

I throw this same urethane ball at 7 pins as well and simply throw the ball straight across the lane, taking all of the hook out of the equation.

I stand over to the left (not on any exact board, just to the left) and throw on an angle, usually pretty straight, directly into the pin. I try and take almost all the spin off of it to prevent it from hooking, but by doing this means you have to be accurate. I can make almost every one this way. Just don't rush it or you will either pull it or throw it to the gutter.

It's also nice doing it this way because you don't have to throw it hard at all.. I just relax and release. It allows me to save my strength for the strikes and spares that need it.
